The sessions have allowed me to focus on myself and make decisions clearly, I am a carer taking care of my husband with terminal cancer and felt lost. I was able to talk about things in a safe space which really supported me to get in a better place emotionally.

It was really good to be able to speak in Punjabi and talk about my anxiety and family related issues, I am thankful for the support.

I went to counselling due to stress and anxiety but after exploring things in a safe space I was able to identify things from my past and abusive marriage were keeping me stuck. I felt I was able to trust Gurchehn and really open up about my issues, I didn't feel judged and felt she was really empathic.

We had weekly and fortnightly sessions. I had been having sessions with Gurchehn on and off for a period of years virtually and in person. I felt that I was in a safe space to be completely honest about how I was feeling. I knew that the issue I was struggling with would be able to be discussed in a supportive way. I find opening up difficult. Building a relationship with Gurchehn to be honest with how I was feeling was a big thing for me & one she was great at being patient with. This helped build coping mechanisms and healthy mental health habits to combat my mental health issues. Going to therapy is not always the easiest thing to do but I knew every week i would feel better for going. For me, we talked through my thoughts and solved a lot of long term issues i had been struggling with. By the end of the most recent group of sessions I felt a lot of clarity about my mind and developed an understanding & compassion for why I was feeling the way I was.

Mental Health Stigma in South Asian Men

If you’re a South Asian man, you might know the feeling: keeping everything inside, carrying family expectations, and pushing through stress without saying much about it. Talking about feelings can seem awkward, even risky. In many of our communities, mental health stigma is still real, and it stops men from opening up when they most […]

Seeing Ourselves More Clearly

The Johari Window: Seeing Ourselves More Clearly In 1955, psychologists Joseph Luft and Harrington Ingham created a model known as the Johari Window. At first glance it looks simple a square divided into four quadrants yet it offers a profound way of thinking about how we see ourselves, how others see us, and where growth […]
